following features a brief outline of the duties of the
following deck crew jobs on an offshore oil rig.
Roustabout: The job description of a roustabout
is drilling on the oilrig. Other tasks also include the unloading
of equipment and supplies from supporting vessels, as well
as servicing well units. The salary can start at US$45,000
or £25,000 a year. The duties can also include supplying
equipment to rig floor when required, keeping main deck and
pipe deck tidy and clean and helping with the guidance of
the crane as supply loads are moved to the rig deck. May also
need to help the roughnecks on the drill floor if they are
too busy to get a break. The roustabout will have his meal
or break then go and relieve one of the roughnecks so they
may then have their break and this is done until all roughnecks
have had a break.
