following features a brief outline of the duties of the
following jobs on an offshore oil rig.
Medic: Has a salary of £37,000 or US$60,000.
For this position a high level of medical training is required
though hardly any are doctors. Many are former nurses. These
people can also double as the Rig Safety & Training Coordinator.
This job requires the upkeep of medical supplies and equipment
required aboard. On many rigs today, a regular medical check
may be carried out every 6 months to keep workers healthy
and happy. There are also people who hold first aid certificates
in every offshore oil rig crew team. Many companies may take
people and train them in first aid-advanced courses. Other
companies prefer those with medical training and experience
from either the military or paramedical.
