following features a brief outline of the duties of the
following deck crew jobs on an offshore oil rig.
Crane Operator: Has a salary that consists
of £34,000 or $60,500 US a year. This person is in charge
of all crane operations from the supply boats and aboard the
rig. He/she is the supervisor of the roustabouts and the Crane
operator assistant. The cranes are used to bring aboard supplies
such as castings, pipes, rig equipment and groceries and so
forth. The crane operator will lift these items off the boats
and safely onto the rig. They are also in charge of supplying
the rig floor with the supplies that are needed. It is ideal
for this job to have a good sense of humor, fast reflexes
and a good depth perception. Other tasks may include painting,
cleaning and general maintenance on the rig.
