The following features a brief outline of the duties of the following mechanical jobs on an offshore oil rig.

Chief Mechanic: This person may have a salary of £45,000 or US $60,000. The role of this person includes the maintenance and repair of the diesel generators and other mechanical equipment and operations on the rig floor. May be required to work 12-hour shift on rare occasions and be hoisted into air by crane in workbasket or riding belt.
