The
following features a brief outline of the duties of the
following mechanical jobs on an offshore oil rig.
Assistant Mechanic: This person has a general
salary that consists of either £35,000 or US $55,000.
They are responsible for the repair and maintenance of
the mechanical equipment and gear onboard which also includes
the drilling package. They may on occasion have to work
a 12-hour shift and may be called out at all hours to
fix a problem with mechanical equipment. Also may be required
to be lifted in the air by a crane or winch in a harness
or workbasket.
